1. Each processor has a limited amount of instructions they can carry out

   • Instructions sets
     • Changing data moving data controlling programme flow

2. Arithmetic operations

   • plus minus multiply divide

3. logical operations

   • comparisons and,or,not they change the bits in a byte

4. CPUs

   • computer is directed to start address for data and instructions
     • CPU fetches instructions and decodes to find out what to do

5. how does a computer tell the difference between programme instructions and data?

   • it all depends on where the data is in the memory

6. operand

   • the part of an instruction that identifies the data to be handled by the operator

7. operator

   • the part of an instruction that tells the processor what to do
