1. Techniques to provide objective information about the quality of the product

   • It is one more activity in the process of quality control

2. Software Testing Functions & Phases

   • An evaluation process is performed in which the results obtained are compared with the expected results to locate software failures
   • These faults lead to a debugging process in which it is necessary to identify the fault associated with each fault and correct it, which may lead to a new test
   • As a final result you can get a certain prediction of reliability or a certain level of confidence in the software tested

   • Prove defects

4. The goal is to design and thoroughly do the tests that allow us to find the highest number of errors with the least amount of time and effort

6. Tasks for Software Testing

   • Design of tests: Identify the different testing techniques that are used to test the software
   • Generation of test cases: The test cases are the input data that are entered into the software to test and return the results with a particular goal
   • Definition of test procedures: Specify how the test process is to be carried out, who will do it and when
   • Test run: After having applied the test cases has been compared with the expected results
   • Test report: With the result of the test cases we identified which results were satisfactory in case of being different than expected, we identified the failures

7. Testing Techniques and Tools

   • White Box
     • This method focuses on how to design test cases for internal behavior and program structure
   • Black Box
     • Performed on a set of interfaces of the program testing, understanding the interface as the inputs and outputs of said program
   • It is not necessary to know the logic of the program, only the functionality to perform

8. Software Testing Process

   • Unit Tests: They begin with the test of each module
   • Integration Testing: From the design schematic, the tested modules are retested in combination to test their interfaces
   • System Testing: Software fully assembled with any hardware component that requires testing to verify that they meet the functional requirements
   • Acceptance Tests: The customer checks that the software works according to their expectations
