what is a computer system
- a computer sytem is able to make inputs, process them and output them; the output is sometimes stored.
- it does this using a variety of hardware and software.
- a computer system is comprised of the CPU, memory and other internal components, for example a GPU.
- the first electronic general purpose computer system was the electronic numerical integrator and computer (ENIAC) began in 1943 and completed in 1946
- ENIAC was able to solve large scale problems and was used by the US army as part of there logistics
- computer systems have evolved rapidly since the creation of the ENIAC and continue to evolve and impress.
- a computer sytem is able to make inputs, process them and output them; the output is sometimes stored.
what is an embedded computer system
- an embedded system is normally built into a piece of machinery or device, hence the name embedded systems .
- it is a computer system that is designed to provide very limited and specific instruction but can only perform 1 or 2 (however this can be changed by adding more cores) and they perform specific instructions.
- it normally consists of a small microprocessor that provides a similar function to a CPU; it takes in an input, processes it and provides an output as a result
- an embedded system is normally built into a piece of machinery or device, hence the name embedded systems .
