Choosing the chart type.

1. Bar.

   • Could be used to show departmental absenteeism and allow comparison between departments.

2. Line.

   • Could be used to compare two versions of information, for example sales targets and actual sales. The two lines can be compared easily.

3. Pie.

   • Could be used to show percentage information, such as how often suppliers meet delivery times. The percentage figures can be included on the chart, and the size if each slice shows the difference between suppliers.

4. Scatter.

   • Can be used to compare predictions with actual events, such as pupil progress. This can be difficult to read, but is very useful for analysis.

5. Column.

   • Could be used to show monthly income. The user can see immediately where there are issues such as sudden changes.

6. Other.

   • Other charts on excel include: area, doughnut, radar, surface and bubble.
