STRING LENGTH - 'string.length'
SUBSTRING - 'stringname.substring'
the string starts with the 0th character
CONVERTING CASES - 'stringname.upper'
- 'stringname.lower'
ASC - ascii number
CHR - character
We put literal values of strings in speech marks and the computer understands that the first starts and last ends it.
When storing multiple bits of data about multiple objects of a similar type, we end up with tables or 2D arrays.
Responses to questions about stored objects are known as it's 'property' or 'attribute' and stored in 'fields'
Multiple fields form a record. roughly corresponds to a row in a table.
PRIMITIVE DATA TYPES - floats, integers, booleans
CUSTOM DATA TYPES - records
SQL - standard query language. popular human-readable programming language used to work with databases.
1 dimensional array - like a bungalow... don't ask
2 dimensional array - like a block of flats... still don't ask
An array is a collection of related data where each element is accessible by number known as an index. they usually have fixed sizes and occupy a fixed amount of memory.
Sub programs can be used to save time and simplify code. the main types are functions and procedures.
if you want the code to repeat use a sub program. it saves time.
procedures are sets of instructions stored under one name.
Functions are similar but always return to the main program.
