Rules for Creating て Form

1) Group 1 verb (strong verbs)

Rule 1: Drop い sound and ます

Rule 2: Add appropriate て form ending

note* 行きます belongs to strong verbs but has an irregular て form : 行きます --> 行って

Group 2 verbs (weak verbs)

Rule 1: drop ます：

Rule 2: add て。For example：食べます becomes 食べて

Group 3 verbs ( irregular verbs)

来ます → 来て

します → して

verb て form + います。

is doing/has been doing

verb て form + いません

is not doing/has not been doing

verb て form + いました

was doing/has been doing
