Viruses

are

intracellular so are inaccessible

acellular

so have fewer targets for antiviral agents

since

they involved with host cells, its hard to target them without harming cells

anti viral

defenence system

Anti Viral Defence system

-antibodies

that are present in our secretions can stop viruses from attaching to

epithelial surfaces but cannot stop them once in the cell

-phagocytes

can destroy cells but they can also infect these cells and then go on to

infecting other cells

-our cell

mediated immune system deals with viruses that have entered the cell

-cells that

are infected produce interferons which bind to receptors of other cells to

prevent viruses from infecting those cells

examples of

viruses

EBOLA

-haemmorrhagic
