Digital footprints are the records and traces we leave behind us as we use the Internet. Your own digital footprint has pros and cons. Having a digital footprint can mean you don't have to repeatedly log in or submit personal details to websites every time which can be tiresome. On the other hand, having big digital footprints may allow others to follow your actions. Most of these are companies trying to commercialize but not all of them.

Digital footprints are made from cookies. Your web browser stores the cookie when requested, and then every time you revisit the website, the web browser sends the cookie back to the web server. Here the catch, the browser stores the cookie behind the scenes, and then sends the cookie back to the website every time you click. Do you don't even know that the cookies are being stored?

Most companies are making money off your personal data. They take your information and try to advertise what you will seem interested without your permission.

Your digital imprint can mean more than just companies trying to send you advertisements it could be used for criminal or malicious activities.

The digital imprint differs if you use a phone or computer. The phone connects directly to internet services. Make it harder to connect anonymously. In addition, your geological location is shown on almost every website you visit.

In order to reduce your digital imprint, you must improve your understanding of the issue, develop hygiene habits, become a sophisticated user of your online tools and services, and then use specific privacy-enhancing tools.

The people who are tracking me, advertisers, publishers, Aggregators.

The cultural, economic, and convenience are being used in digital footprint

The companies find a loophole through the laws of privacy and exploit for money. In addition, different countries have different laws so some may find it easier than others
