Homework and Tests
Planning Ahead
Get a planner or agenda
Write homework in it as soon as it's assigned
Big assignments: plan when to start, finish, and do tasks in between
Prioritize based on due dates
if you only have one night to do an assignment, do it before an assignment due in a week
still, work on the big assignment a little
example:
you have a worksheed due tomorrow, an essay due in a week, and a project due in a week and a half
do the worksheet first, then start the essay, then start the project
Doing the Homework
If you don't know something, come back to it
Ask friends in the class if you forgot the homework or don't know how to do it
Have a clean study space
If you got a rubric or checklist, make sure you did everything
Essays
-Before You Start
If you got a rubric or checklist, read it
If you didn't, use one of the checklists or plans below
-Research
CITE YOUR SOURCES if you need to
Use Wikipedia to find sources, not information
Take notes
-First Draft
Write it by hand, you can type it up and edit it later
you'll understand it better this way
Do the body first, then the introduction and conclusion, then the title
DON'T PLAGIARIZE
unless you live in a country where it's legal
Cite all your sources in correct format if you need to
-Draft(s) After That
Type these
Make sure things flow
Correct your grammar
Try to improve your first draft
Make sure you use whatever format your teacher asked for
Keep drafting until you like the final result
Go over the checklist/rubric again to make sure you did everything you needed to
Reread it multiple times

Highlighters
A pencil case to put the pens, erasers, highlighters, and pencils in
A five-subject notebook
Folders or binders for every class(some five-subject notebooks have folders in them)

Anything your teacher has told you to bring
Other
Pay attention
Talk to the teacher if you don't understand your grades/don't know what you should do to raise them
Regardless of your grades, do the extra credit in case your grades slip later
Be sure that you have the time before you start an extra credit assignment so you can still do your actual work
Don't slack off at the beginning of the year when work is easy
Teachers often average out your final grade based on a long period of time
If you get good grades when it's easy, you can get a higher grade at the end
