The Brain Responds Uniquely to People You Know Personally

People tend to pay special attention to friends and relatives that they have a bond with.

This is because of the medial prefrontal cortex (MPFC) part of the brain that becomes active when thinking about others who they know and especially if they share common interests.

The MPFC is the area of the brain that perceives value and regulates social behavior.
