Equilibria

Dynamic Equilibrium

In these reversible reactions, there is both forward (reactants-products) and reverse (product molecules break down-reactants) reaction

The Haber Process;

Industrial process to form Ammonia from Nitrogen and Hydrogen gas

In these reversible reactions, 100 percent of reactants-products can never be obtained

So, expensive reactant molecules do not break down fully

E.G. As forward reaction slows down, reverse reaction will speed up- till they are at the same rate (Equilibrium position)

At equilibrium, the concentration is constant, not equal!

Equilibrium can be obtained in a closed system- in sealed container, so reactants and products aren't lost/escape

Le Chatelier's Principle:

- If dynamic equilibrium is disturbed by changing conditions, the position of equilibrium changes to counteract the change
