Computer use millions of electronic circuits and switches which can either be On or Off
On is represented by 1 and Off is represented by 0
0 or a 1 = 1 Bit (Binary Digit)
4 bits = 1nibble
8 Bits = 1 Bytes = 1 Kilobyte (Kb)
1000es = 1 Kilobyte (Kb)
1000Kb = 1 Megabyte (Mb)
1000 Mb = 1 Gigabyte (Gb)
1 Byte = 1 Character of text
Electricity can’t be held it wobbles around and if touched you could die
Could only have things on or off
Information and data are 2 different things
Data is the stuff that goes in ( a number that doesn’t mean anything
Information is data in context
1000 kilo byte is 1 mega
1000 mega byte is 1 gigabyte
1000 gigabyte is one terabyte
1000 terabyte is a petabyte
Bytes states
1 2
2 4
3 8
4 16
5 32
6 64
7 128
8 256
0 – off
1 – on

It is a character-encoding scheme originally based on the English alphabet
ASCII codes represent text in computers, communications equipment, and other devices that use text
For example: a lower case ‘f’ is represented by the following combination of bits in the ASCII table
f = 1100110 or in 8 Bits, 01100110
8 bits is called a Byte
