- Experiment
- This experiment investigates how light intensity affects photosynthesis
- pond weed is placed in a test tube containing 0 . 2 % sodium hydrogen carbonate solution. This acts as a source of carbon dioxide
- when a strong light is shone on the pond weed, photosynthesis produces small bubbles of oxygen gas. The rate of photosynthesis is found by counting the number of bubbles found in 1 minute
- The light intensity is varied by changing the position of the lamp
- the test tube is placed in a beaker of water which acts as a heat shield to reduce any heating effect from the lamp
