Current and Potential Difference (Physics Unit 2)

1. Current

   • The flow of electric charge round the circuit
     • Charge is measured in coulombs
   • Measured in amps (A)
   • Current = Charge / Time
     • I = Q / T

2. Potential difference

   • Same as voltage
   • Measured in volts (V)
   • The force that pushes the current round
   • P.D = Work done / Charge
     • V = W / Q

3. Resistance

   • Anything in the circuit which slows the flow down.
   • Measured in ohms

4. The greater the resistance across a component, the smaller the current that flows

   • (For a given potential difference across the component)
