Functions
WHAT IS A FUNCTION
A function is the relationship with inputs with outputs that helps us map them out.
WHAT IS THE DOMAIN?
The domain is all the values of x you can input into a function
WHAT IS THE RANGE?
The range of a function is the complete set of all possible outputs, (usually all the possible y values), after we have substituted the domain. So basically it is the lowest y-value to the highest y-value we get after substituting all the possible x-values.
How do you calculate the roots of a function?
When we make a function equal to zero, it tells us when the graph crosses the x axis. Which we can use to calculate the roots.

Discriminants
What are discriminants used for?
They are used to tell us the number of distinct roots a function has.
