waves transfer energy in the direction they travel
when waves travel through a medium, the particles of the medium oscillate and transfer between each other . But overall, the particles stay in the same place - only energy is transferred.
amplitude = is the wave of a maximum displacement of a point of the wave
wavelength = distance between the same point on two waves.
frequency = number of complete waves passing a certain point per second
all waves are either transverse or longitudinal
