Proportion
Direct proportion is when one variable increases e.g. more pizzas cost more money.
y is the cost
x is the number of pizzas

Inverse proportion is when one variable decreases as the other increases e.g. the time taken to paint a fence decreases if you have more people.
y is the time taken
x is the people painting the fence

Example
4 people have enough food to camp for 6 days. How long would the same food last 3 people
Working
4 x 6 = 24
24 ÷ 3 = 8
8 people
