SPEED + ACCELERATION
Slides in this set (9)
-
- v=d/t
- Speed = distance / time taken
- v is measured in m/s or ms(to the power of)-1
- d is measured in m
- t is measured in s

-

- Steeper the line, greater the speed.
- Uniform speed. But greater speed among the three lines.
- Uniform moderate speed.
- Uniform least speed.
-
- An object is traveling with increasing speed.
- Accelerating = change in speed / time taken
- a = Δv / Δt
- a is measured in ms(to the power of)-2 or m/s(to the power of)2

-
- Initial speed = 50m/s
- Final speed = 70m/s
- Time taken = 10s
- a = change in speed / time taken
- a = final speed - initial speed / time taken
- a = 70-50 / 10
- a = 20/10
- a = 2ms(to the power of)-2
-

- Constant speed or no acceleration
-

- Object is accelerating (constant)
-

- Object is decelerating (constant)
-
- The slope of a v-t graph gives the acceleration of the graph.
- Area under the speed - time graph (vt = distance) gives the distance. (rectangle = length x width and triangle = 1/2base x height).
- (can split in half and add 1 area + 2 area)
