LEARNING
Classical Conditioning: a learning process that happens when 2 stimuli get paid repeatedly
- the first stimuli evokes a natural response by the subject, while the second doesn't. BUT, after enough pairings together, the second becomes conditioned and causes the response to happen.
EX: During Pavlovs experiments, he noticed that dogs started to salivate before they even received any food, they started salivating at the sounds of food steps from the researchers, or the noise of the bowls. drooling (RESPONSE)
Dogs naturally salivate to FOOD which is an UNCONDITIONED STIMULUS
the dog DROOLING is the UNCONDITIONED RESPONSE
the sound of the BELL is the NEUTRAL STIMULUS (bc dogs don't naturally salivate to bells)
CONDITIONED RESPONSE is the DOG SALIVATING
CONDITIONED STIMULUS is the BELL
