CIRCUITS

there are two types of circuit. One is called a series circuit, and the other is called a parallel circuit.

In a series circuit, all the pieces are linked in a loop which is not split off at any point. This means that if a bulb is added the rest of the bulbs get dimmer, and if something in the circuit breaks, the rest of the circuit will not work. In a series circuit, the force of energy is measured in Amps ( the sign is A). Amps are measured on an ammeter, it can be placed anywhere in circuit and read the same thing.

parallel circuits are circuits that break off into parallel sections. This means that if a bulb is added then the other bulbs will not be affected, and and if something in the circuit breaks the rest of the circuit will not be affected. The difference in energy levels in the circuit is measured in Volts(the sign is V) the reading changes depending on where in the circuit you put them. The Volts are measured on a voltmeter that is placed in parallel.

MAGNETISM

there are four main subjects in magnetism: Bar magnets, electromagnets, magnetic fields and electrolysis.

Bar magnets are permanent magnets that can not be turned off, and can be made out of: Iron, Cobalt, steel and nickel.

Electromagnets are magnets that can be turned off. They are made from a wire with an electrical current and a magnetic object, which the wire is wrapped around. To strengthen the magnet you can coil the wire, or to fully strengthen add an iron core instead of a normal magnet.

Magnetic fields are found around all objects containing a magnetic force. They are invisible so we use iron filings to find them. Iron filings fill the area where the magnetic field is, and can attract or repel magnets. Magnetic field lines flow from north to south and get stronger at the poles.

electrolysis is a chemical reaction caused when electrodes react with water chemical, causing gas bubbles to form. Electrolysis produces hydrogen and Oxygen, and twice as much hydrogen will be created than oxygen.
