- July 1944 Bomb Plot:
- The aim of Operation Valkyrie was to kill Hitler and take control of Berlin using the armed forces
- 22 July 1944 - Colonel Claus von Stauffenburg left a leather bag under a table in Hitler's headquarters in east Berlin
- When Hitler arrived, Stauffenburg left the room and the bomb exploded
- Four people were killed in total
- While Hitler only suffered minor injuries
- The result of events like this led to the killing of around 5,000 people who were suspected of plotting to kill Hitler
