Network Protocols
Cards in this deck (3)
- 1IPv4 AddressIPv4 is a addressing method used in computer systems. IPv4 uses 32 bits to provide over 4 billion unique IP addresses. IPv4 addresses are nearly all used up because of increased use of internet enabled websites.
- 2IPv6 AddressingIPv6 addressing is a fairly new data communication protocol, which was created to replace the IPv4 system. Currently in the US, they have used all their IPv4 addresses and now are using IPv6. IPv6 has the capacity to assign up to octillion (80x 0's) IP addresses. IPv6 uses 128 bits to assign addresses.
- 3MAC AddressingA MAC address is used to uniquely identify any networked device that uses wireless signals. MAC addresses provide networks with enhanced security because a router or firewall can allow and block specific MAC addresses.
