About General Knowledge and Trivia

GoConqr Original

What you will find here

This unit mixes quick-fire quizzes with visual and revision-style material. The quizzes range widely. Valentine’s – Spice Up Your Life Quiz asks about spices and the Spice Girls. AirportCodes and airport codes test three-letter codes such as KHI, HND and SIN, and ask which city an airport serves. CARIBBEAN-MEXICO is a list of ports and destinations, from Bridgetown in Barbados to Montego Bay in Jamaica.

Where to start

Begin with a short, easy quiz. The quiz Flags, Trivia of Random or Little facts are friendly ways in. Then move to the ones with more recall, such as General Knowledge 201-300, which asks about Pakistani officials, dams and organisations. If you like pictures and cards, try the Trivia or General Knowledge flashcard decks next.

Using quizzes and maps together

Mind maps give you the overview before you test yourself. Look at World Records, Types of entertainment, Valentine's Day or SWITZERLAND, then take a related quiz and note what you missed. The NATO Phonetic alphabet deck and the The Braille Alphabet map are handy for small, memorable sets of facts. The datos importantes deck collects facts such as the Nile, Everest and the Burj Khalifa.

  1. Skim a mind map for the big picture.
  2. Take a quiz on the same theme.
  3. Go over the cards for the answers you missed.
  4. Retake the quiz a few days later.

Where this unit sits

Choose one quiz that catches your eye and give it a go. When you are ready, make a deck or map of your own facts.

Frequently asked questions

Which quiz should I try first?

Try a short, light one such as Flags, Little facts or Trivia of Random. They are quick to finish and show you what kind of questions to expect. If you want something more demanding, move on to General Knowledge 201-300 afterwards.

Are the resources free to use?

Yes. Every resource listed here is free to open, study and take, with no account needed. They were made by GoConqr users, not by GoConqr itself, so style and difficulty vary from one to the next.

What do the mind maps cover?

The mind maps cover topics such as World Records, Types of entertainment, Valentine's Day, SWITZERLAND, The Braille Alphabet and a fact file on Brazil. They work well as a quick overview before you take a quiz on the same theme.

Who is this unit for?

It suits school students who want to test and extend what they know, and teachers looking for ready-made material such as warm-up quizzes or flashcard decks. Most resources are general in level, with a good share at secondary level.

Can I test myself on geography and travel?

Yes. AirportCodes and airport codes ask you to match codes to cities, and CARIBBEAN-MEXICO lists destinations across the region. Europe in Questions and Quiz about Germany add more place-based questions, while the Brazil fact file is a mind map.

What if I cannot find what I need?

Make it yourself. A free account lets you build your own quizzes, mind maps, flashcards and notes, and it also saves your quiz scores. You can then base them on the facts and topics you want to practise.
