- 1huea pure colour with no shade or tint
- 2primary coloura group of 3 colours that are mixed together in different quantities to create other colours. they are red, blue and yellow
- 3secondary coloursthe colours made when equal parts of two primary colours are mixed. there is only three they are purple, orange and green
- 4Tertiary colourscolours resulting when an equal amount of a primary and secondary colour is mixed. For example blue and green creates blue-green
- 5Complementary colours:colours opposite from each other on the colour wheel. When combined they cancel each other out but when placed beside each other they create the strong contrast and appear very vibrant.
- 6Harmoniousharmonious also know as analogous colours are colours that are beside each other on the colour wheel . They share a common colour, with one being usually a primary or secondary colour, and a tertiary colour
- 7valueusually refers to the black in a colour. The blacker the colour the higher the value
- 8ToneTone refers to all light and darkness within an artwork ie. tints and shades
- 9tintwhen white is added o a colour eg. red becomes pink
- 10shadewhen you add black to a colour to make it darker
- 11brightnessbrightness refers to the white in the colour the more white the brighter
- 12Monochromatic:An artwork is made with just one colour or hue and a variety of tones (shades and tints). Eg. Pablo Picassos Blue Period.
