Computer Systems

1. Input Devices

   • Controller-allows the user to enter actions by pressing buttons
   • Keyboard-allows the user to enter data by clicking on keys
   • Mouse-allows the user to move the cursor by moving the mouse
   • Microphone-the microphone system picks up sound and converts it into digital input data
   • Touch Screen-the heat sensor detects the surrounding temperature and produces an input into the computer system
   • Touch Screen-the touch screen picks up your finger movements on the screen and produces input data for the computer system to act upon

2. Output Devices

   • Speaker-A computer speaker is a hardware device that connects to a computer to generate sound.
   • Monitor-a monitor is an output device that displays video images and text.
   • Projector-A projector is an output device that can take images generated by a computer or Blu-ray player and reproduce them onto a screen, wall, or other surface.
   • Printer- A printer is a device that accepts text and graphic output from a computer and transfers the information to paper.

3. Storage Devices

   • External Hard Drives- An external hard drive is a portable storage device that can be attached to a computer through a USB or FireWire connection, or wirelessly. External hard drives typically have high storage capacities and are often used to back up computers or serve as a network drive.
   • Memory Stick - store and transfer all kinds o­f files on our computers -- digital photographs, music files, wor­d processing documents, PDFs and countless other forms of media.
   • Memory Card- Alternatively referred to as a flash memory card, a Memory card is a type of storage media that is often used to store photos, videos, or other data in electronic devices
   • Hard Disk Drive- A hard disk drive (sometimes abbreviated as Hard drive, HD, or HDD) is a non-volatile memory hardware device that permanently stores and retrieves data on a computer.
