1. Brain

   • Forebrain
     • Cerebrum
       • Corpus Callosum- Divides right and left hemispheres
   • Midbrain
     • Connects cerebrum to pons and cerebellum
   • Hindbrain
     • Cerebellum
     • Pons
       • Forms upper part of hindbrain
       • Bridge between cerebrum and cerebellum and madulla oblongata
     • Medulla oblongata
       • Forms lower part of hindbrain
   • Ventricular System
     • Four irregular fluid filled cavities that communicate with one another
       • Two upper cavities (left and right lateral ventricles)
         • Situated one on each side of the midsagittal plane
       • Third ventricle
         • Situated in the midsagittal plane
       • Fourth ventricle
         • Located in the hindbrain

2. Spinal Cord

   • Grey substance
   • White substance
   • Spinal nerves arise from two roots at the side of spinal canal
   • Spinal cord and nerves work together to transmit and recieve sensory, motor and reflex messages

3. Brain and Spinal Cord

   • Enclosed by meninges
