1. secondary storage

   • The need for secondary storage. secondary storage is any storage, internal or external, that is not under the direct control of the CPU
   • A computer needs secondary storage to store long term data. secondary storage stores the contnts of RAM when the computer is off.
   • When we store data files it takes up a space called a file size we might need to calculate the size to see where it can be stored

2. Types of storage

   • Optical storage: Things like CDs, DVDs and blue rays are optical storage. They are small and portable and quite durable. they are also quite cheap to make. the storage capacity however is quite small and in some cases a certain device is needed to read them.
