Correlations

1. Relationships

   • Between two co-variables
     • NOT IV OR DV

2. Can be positive or negative

   • Positive: as one co-variable increases the other increases
   • Negative: as one co-variable increases the other decreases
   • Or no relationship: there is no relationship between variables

3. Graphs

   • Marks not just a line
     • But if you do a line, do a line of best fit
   • Each point represents 2 scores from each pp
   • Co-variables on axis interchangeable
     • However they do need to be operationalised e.g on a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the highest

4. Spearman's Rho

   • Because it is a correlation, the data is ordinal and the design is repeated measures
     • ALL CORRELATIONS ARE REPEATED MEASURES
