      1. sea life (i.e. trilobites, brachiopods, graptolites) drastically reduced in number
      2. Devonian
        1. 75% became extinct

            2. Permian
              1. 96% became extinct
                1. "The Great Dying"
                2. Triassic
                  1. marine reptiles, some large amphibians, many reef-building creatures, large numbers of cephalopod mollusks died
                    1. plants were not so badly affected
                    2. Cretaceous
                      1. K/T extinction
                        1. death of dinosaurs, many flowering plants, and last of pterosaurs
