1. SH uses lesser of characters to comment on the central action - give a wider context to M behavior

2. Novels begins with SN - sets the tone for the rest of the play, its gothic aspects allow the audience to feel fear, as in shakespears time the audience believed in the SN n evil therefore it will make them feel excited and suspense

3. James 1 keen believer in devine right for kings , king was seen as God's ruler, the murder of the king - would harm the country and go against God's will- seen as evil as everyone had religion, and that opposition on the king was attack on God

4. Wrote M in 1606- after the gunpowder plot james being catholic not everyone supported and conspiracies developed, therefore gunpowder plot made, SH wrote macbeth warning other political regicides(kingkillers) of the awful fate that inevitably take over them

5. SH wants to flatter the king therefore he shows M loosing everything- he becomes hated and demonised by all his subjectsn james also interested in SN and took part in many witch trials - witches scenes taken= very seriously
