1. Forces and their effects

   • Resultant forces
     • Zero resultant force
       • A stationary object remains stationary if the sum of the forces acting upon it - resultant force - is zero. A moving object with a zero resultant force keeps moving at the same speed and in the same direction.
     • Resultant force of more than zero
       • If the resultant force acting on an object is not zero, a stationary object begins to accelerate in the same direction as the force. A moving object speeds up, slows down or changes direction.
     • a single force that has the same effect as all the forces acting on a object
   • GPE and KE
     • Gravitational Potential Energy and Kinetic Energy
     • Assume all GPE change to KE
     • Ep=mxgxh
       • Ep=mxgxh Joules=kgxn/kgxmeters
   • Momentum
     • To do with movement of an object
       • Collisions and explosions
     • If something is not moving the momentum is zero
     • The conservation of momentum
   • Terminal Velocity & Friction
     • Friction slows things down
     • Drag increases as speed increases
     • Terminal velocity
       • Objects falling through fluids reach terminal velocity
       • Steady speed
       • In falling objects it depends on
         • Shape
           • Streamlined=will fall faster
         • Area
           • Small area=less air resistance

2. Kinetic energy

3. Electricity

   • Static Electricity
     • Electrons move
       • Electrons move away-positive charge
     • Charges attract
     • Opposites repel
   • Circuits
     • Symbols
     • A basic circuit is used to test components
     • Voltmeter
       • Measures potential difference in volts
     • Ammeter
       • Measures the current in amps
     • Potential Difference-Current Graphs

4. Atoms and radiation

   • Atom Structure
     • Plum Pudding
       • Atoms are solid
     • Rutherford
       • Firing beams of alpha particles at gold foil
   • Radiation

5. Life cycles of stars
