Cloud Computing
Types of Service
- Storage-Allowing your data to be stored remotely on the hosts server
- Infrastructure-You can pay to use the hosts hardware
- Processing-This means that you can run complicated programs remotley
- Software-You can pay to use the software remotely
Advantages
- ease of updating the software-Cloud computing allows for frequent, undisruptive software updates
- Reduced IT costs-Moving to cloud computing may reduce the cost of managing and maintaining your IT systems
- High Speed Cloud computing allows you to deploy your service quickly in fewer clicks
- Back-up and restore data Once the data is stored in a Cloud, it is easier to get the back-up and recovery of that, which is otherwise very time taking process on-premise.
Disadvantages
- No longer in control. When moving services to the cloud, you are handing over your data and information.
- May not get all the features. Not all cloud services are the same
- No Redundancy. A cloud server is not redundant nor is it backed up.
- Bandwidth issues. For ideal performance, clients have to plan accordingly and not pack large amounts of servers and storage devices into a small set of data centres
