LIVING THINGS
NUTRITION
- The way an organism gets its food.
- Animals get their food by eating plants or other animals
RESPIRATION
- Living things break down food in their cells to supply themselves with energy
EXCRETION
- Animals excrete waste products such as salts, water and CO2
GROWTH
- If a living thing is only made of one cell then growth means that the cell gets bigger
- For living things made of many cells (such as humans and trees) growth involves cells dividing to form new cells
REPRODUCTION
- Reproduction is needed to prevent each living thing from dying out (or becoming extinct).
MOVEMENT
- It is easy to see animals move as they run, fly, walk etc.
- Plants however move very very slowly overtime
RESPONCE
- Animals respond to changes such as hearing a loud noice or seeing something dangerous
- Plants move much more slowly by growing towards or away from light or gravity
