1. Fascia

   • Prevertebral Layer
     • Posterior compartment
       • cervical vertebrae, spinal cord, cervical nerves & vertebral column muscles (SUPPORT COLUMN)
     • epaxial muscles, prevertebral muscles, scalene muscles & vertebra
     • danger space
       • buccopharyngeal->Posterior of throat
   • Investing Layer
     • trapezius and sternocleidomastoid
     • outside
   • Pretracheal Layer
     • (1) Musclar portion enclose the infra-hyoid muscles (2) Visceral fascia ( thyroid, PHARYNX, larynx, ESOPHAGUS, & trachea)
     • Anterior Compartment
       • digestive & respiratory systems & endocrine glands
     • danger space
   • Carotid Sheath Layer
     • neuro-vascular bundle (Carotid arteries, Internal jugular vein, and vagus nerve)
       • vascular compartment (2)
         • blood vessels & Vagus Nerve

2. danger space

   • Btn Pretracheal & prevertebral Fascia
     • Retropharyngeal space ((C7 (T2)) & Pervetebral space
   • Communicates with Posterior Mediastinum->infection spreads from head & neck to the throrax

3. SCM

   • divides neck into anterior and posterior triangles
     • Posterior Triangle
       • Further divided by the inferior belly of the Omohyoid: Occipital triangle and supraclavicular triangle
       • Anterior Border=posterior boarder of the SCM
       • Base= superior border of clavicle
       • Posterior Border=anterior border of trapezius
       • Floor=Prevertebral fascia
         • Scalenus anterior->Phrenic Nerve
           • Scalenus medius
             • Brachial plexus
         • levator scapulae->CN XI
         • Splenius Capitiis
           • semispinalis capitis
   • CN XI (spinal accessory)
