1. Skeletal muscles work as antagonistic pairs. They pull on the bone to make them pivot

2. A moment is the turning effect of a force

   • You calculate a moment using the equation ; moment=force X perpendicular distance to pivot
     • Moments have units of Newton metre

3. The biceps and triceps are an antagonist pair

   • As one muscle contracts the other relaxes - this is what an antagonistic pair is
