Energy It is the ability to do work. Any change needs energy. All living things need energy to live. Machines and tools use energy to work. E.g. to move objects or to change the composition.
Forms of energy There are 6 forms of energy. They are motion, chemical, electrical, sound, heat and light energy.
Coal It is a solid. It is extracted through mines. It is transported by train or boat. It is used mainly in power stations to make electricity and in industries.
Reduce It means buying less so that you throw away less.
Reuse It means using things again instead of throwing them away.
Recycle It means sorting your waste and putting it in the right recycling bank. Recycling materials uses much less energy than making new ones
Petroleum : It is a liquid. It is extracted through wells. It is transported to refineries by tankers or pipelines. It is used in industries, homes and vehicles.
Natural gas It is a mixture of gases. It is extracted through wells. It is transported to refineries by pipelines. It is used for heating and cooking and in industries.
