Question Answer
What is a population? The total number of a single interbreeding species in a particular area
What is a gene pool? The sum total of all the genes in a population at a particular time
What is an allele frequency? The proportion of a particular allele in a population at a particular time
What is a genome? All the DNA in an individual - the entire genetic complement in any one organism
Frequency of the alleles in a population can be represented as p + q = 1 (frequency of alleles)
Frequency of individuals with the different genotypes can be represented as p2 + 2pq + q2 = 1 (frequency of alleles)
