What is a CHATROOM? A chatroom is a way to communicate with people that are interested in the same topic. Large interactive groups where people take part in the same topic or type of chat at the same time are known as chatrooms.
Why may a VLE be used in a school? 1) To share resources with students of that particular school. 2) The students can contact teachers if they are stuck with a particular task. 3) They can send their coursework/homework to their teachers via the VLE. 4) The teachers can also give feedback via the VLE.
Give an advantage of INSTANT MESSAGING. 1) It is a way to exchange texts as an alternative to ringing people and will cost a lot less. 2) The messages are sent in 'real time' which means that a reply can received very quickly.
Give a disadvantage of INSTANT MESSAGING. 1) Emotions and sarcasm is better said in person because the tone of the message sent is not clear. 2) Viruses can be sent via Instant Messaging

Explain what VOICE OVER INTERNET PROTOCOL (VoIP) is It allows people to communicate in 'real time' using video messaging or audio messaging. This is available between any two point all over the world and there is no additional cost. All you need is Wi-Fi.
Give 2 disadvantages of VoIP 1) The VoIP service is reliant on the reliability of the broadband service. 2) Voices can be distorted and there could be lags and long pauses between Questions and Answers. 3) Identity theft, Viruses and Phishing are potential threats.
What do SOCIAL NETWORKING sites allow people to do? They allow people to communicate virtually in 'real time' all over the world. Groups of people with the same interests, hobbies and opinions can share informationall at the cost of a broadband connection.
What is a WIKI? Websites that provide information that any users can edit and browse. They allow people to share information for research or general knowledge. An example of a website like this is Wikipedia.
Online Communities It is a place on the internet where people with similar interest can come together and chat and exchange views. Sometimes the communities can exist in the virtual world which is an unreal world. Examples of these are Habbo, World of Warcraft, SecondLife and Twinity.
What is NETIQUETTE? Netiquette is a term for inter'net' etiquette. This is a set of rules made to stop abusive language and behavior whilst online. If someone acts out and breaks the 'netiquette' rules then anyone can report them and get them banned.
