- 3Which are the IAM users?- Root user. First in the new environment. Creator.
- New user. Created by root user. Default no access.
- Power user. Access to everything, except to IAM resources.
- Progmatic user, can access AWS only via API, SDK. - 4What is an AZ?AZ stands for availability zone. AZs are existing inside of a region. There are more than one and separated.
- 5Edge location?Edge location is a caching point, where large files are transferred inside of AWS network for faster access.
- 6Core elements of IAM?- Users.
- Groups. Group of users.
- Role. Grouped AWS resource don't need to add one by one.
- Policy. Permission document attached to a user or role. JSON format. - 7User login?- Password and MFA authentication.
- 8What is S3?An object based storage. Simple, webservice interface to store and retrieve data..
- 9What are the main benefits of S3?- Easy to use.
- From 1GB-5TB.
- Secure, durable, highly scalable. - 10What is an S3 Bucket?Bucket is like a folder inside could(data store). Has a unique name globally. Available via domain. s3-eu-west-1.amazon.com/uniquebucketname
- 11Which are the S3 data consistencies?-Read after write.
- Eventual consistency. - 12What is the read after write consistency?Immediately read access, after write finished. This provides a bit latency, but high consistency.
- 13What is a eventual consistency?Consistency for overwrite puts/deletes atomic level. Data can be read and updated at sametime.
- 14What is an S3 key?Unique identifier for an object.
- 15Which are the main IAM concepts?- Centralized access control.
- Temporary access.
- Granulated access.
- Password management.
- Shared access.
- Identity federation (FB, Linkedin)
- DSS, PCL compliant.
- AWS service integration. - 16What the elements of S3 keys?- Key name (object name).
- Data inside the file.
- Version ID.
- Meta data.
- Subresource (ACL etc) - 17How S3 data is secured? With ACL and Bucket policies.
- 18S3 by numbers?- Availability 99,99% (granted 99,9).
- Durability 11x9%. - 19What are the four main features of S3?- Versioning.
- Encryption
- Tiered storage, storage class
- Lifecycle management
- Globally available. - 20Which are the four S3 storage tiers?- S3 Standard.
- S3 IA.
- S3 IA one zone.
- Glacier. - 21What is the purpose of S3 Standard?S3 Standard provides high availability and durability. Objects are stored redundantly on multiple devices and facilities. (Sustain loss of 2 facilities. Frequently accessed.
- 22What is the purpose of S3 IA?Objects are infrequently accessed. Rapid access, with retrieval fee. Exists in more AZs.
- 23What is the purpose of S3 One Zone IA?Same as S3 IA, but data exists in one AZ. Ideal for easily recreateable data.
- 24What is the purpose of Glacier?Ideal for data archive. Retrieval time is long.
- 25What are the three types of Glacier?Expedited provides fast recall. Standard 3-5 hours. Bulk 5-12 hours.
- 26Which are the the main features of versioning?- Versioning is not enabled by default. After enabling, can be only suspended. Must for CRR. Stores all version. Integrates life cycle management. Latest version handling.
- 27What is CRR?Cross region replication. When a bucket is replicated automatically to an other.
- 28What are the 'musts' for CRR?Enable CRR form the source bucket to the destination. Both must have a unique name and region.
- 29What is replicated with CRR?Objects, delete markers, tags.
- 30What is not replicated with CRR?Delete markers for individual versions. The source bucket must be copied to destination if it was not empty. (aws s3 cp --recursive s3://sb s3://db)
- 31What is the purpose of life cycle management?Monitoring different storage classes. Archiving. With versioning can be applied for current or previous versions.(because versions are stored, but newest is in use)
- 32Which automated actions can be performed by life cycle management?Transition to S3 IA/IA 1 Zone from S3 Standard after 30 days.
Archiving with Glacier after 30 days from S3 IA/IA 1 Zone or S3 Standard.
Auto delete. - 33CDN stands for...Content Delivery network.
- 34What is the purpose of CDN?To deliver web content, web page faster, avoid latency, based on geo location.
- 35How is the CDN setup?CDN is a system of distributed servers, worldwide. Endpoint of an intranet to internet, intranet is much faster.
- 36Which is the AWS CDN service?Cloud Front.
- 37What is the Cloud Front terminology?Origin. Distribution. Edge location. First user.
- 38What is the Cloud Front origin?Source to edge location. Origin/source of all files what CDN will distribute. (S3 Bucket, EC2, ELB, Route53)
- 39What is the Cloud Front distribution?A CDN which a collection of edge locations. (two type, web and RTMP)
- 40What is the Cloud Front edge location?Caching point, where content is pulled down. It's separated from Region and AZ. Pulls down file to the nearest geo location where an edge server is.
- 41What is the Cloud Front first user?First user will down load the content to the edge location. He will experience latency.
- 42What can be delivered with Cloud Front?S3 Object. Static, dynamic web pages. Web content. EC2. Route53. ELB. Streaming content.
- 43How Cloud Front works? After requesting a content user will be routed to the nearest edge location.
- 44How edge location is handling the content?Content can be cleared, but it is charged. There is a TTL, expiration time. It's not only read only.
- 45EC2 stands for...Elastic Cloud Computing.
- 46What is the purpose of EC2?Provides a web service, which is compute capacity is resizeable. It's like a virtual machine in cloud. Fault tolerant. Pay as you use.
- 47Which are the EC2 price options?Ondemand. Reserved. Spot. Dedicated.
- 48What is Ondemand price option?Low cost, but flexibility. No upfront payment. No commitment.
- 49What is the use case for Ondemand price option?Ideal for application development. For short term, spiky applications, unpredictable workload, with no interruption.
- 50What is Reserved Instance option?Upfront payment to reduce costs. 1-3 commitment. Standard -75%, convertible -54% to Ondemand.
- 51Which are the Reserved Instance types?Standard. Convertable(capacity can be changed).. Scheduled(available within a time window. predictable, reoccuring scheduling).
- 52What is the use case for Reserved Instance price option? For applications with stady state and predictable usage and need reserved capacity.
- 53What is the Spot price option?Biding for capacity, like on stock. An upper limit can be set up. If limited is reached execution stops, last hour not charged. If execution stopped manually last hour charged.
- 54What is the use case for Spot price option?Flexible start/end time., urgent need of large capacity. For applications that are feasible at very low compute price.
- 55What is the Dedicated price option? It's a dedicated server. Can be purchased ondemand or reserved.
- 56What is the use case for Dedicated price option?Useful for regulatory requirements and licensing where multi-tenancy not allowed.
- 57EBS stands for ...Elastic Block Storage.
- 58What is the benefit of EBS?It's a virtual disk. Ideal for DBs, APPs. They are in specific AZ and automatically replicated. Can be a route device attached to EC2.
- 59What is EBS General Purpose SSD(GP2)?An SSD block storage device, which provides good price for the performance. From 3 to 10000IOPS / GB. Can be route device.
- 60What is EBS Provisoned SSD(IO1)?An SSD block storage device, designed for intense IO applications. Large relation or nosql DB. From 10000 to 20000 IOPS/GB. Can be route device.
- 61What is EBS Throughput Optimized HDD(ST1)?Not a route device. Ideal for Big Data, Data warehouse and log processing.
- 62What is EBS Cold HDD(SC1)?Lowest cost. Not a boot device. For infrequently accessed data. File server.
