Define 'managers' according to the contemporary model (Samson and Daft, 2012) Managers are people who co-ordinate all the resources of an organisation to ensure that its goals are achieved effectively and efficiently.
What is an organisation? An organisation has a distinct purpose, a deliberate structure and the most important aspect, is comprised by people. Organisations are people with a common purpose arranged into a purpose-driven structure.
What is coordination? Coordination is the act of working together. Making different people or things work together for a goal or effect.
What do managers coordinate? Managers coordinate all resources of an organisation such as people, equipment, finances, innovation, development and change.
What is organisational performance? Organisational performance is the organisation's ability to attain its goals by using resources in an effective and efficient manner.
Define effectiveness Effectiveness is the extent to which the organisation achieves a stated goal.
Define efficiency Efficiency is the use of minimal resources, raw materials, money and people, to produce a desired volume of output. That is, maximum output through minimum input thus resulting in low wastage of resources.
Organisational structure consists of what types of management? Organisational structure consists of two management types, a vertical and horizontal structure.
