10. Video - 4What is a field?A single item of data within a record.
- 5What is a record?A collection of related fields.
- 6What is a file?A file is a collection of related records.
- 7What is a key field?A key field unique identifies each record. No two records have the same data in their key fields.
- 8What do validation methods do?Ensure that data entered is reasonable and sensible.
- 9What do validation rules do?As data is entered it is checked to see that it obeys the validation rules; any data that doesn't is not accepted.

6. Lookup list - 11What does a range check do?Ensures that data entered is within a required range.
- 12What do type checks do?Ensures data is of the correct type.
- 13What does a format/picture check do?Checks that data entered follows a specific pattern/rule if required.
- 14What does a length check do?Checks the length of the input is correct.
- 15What does a presence check do?Ensures that all data that has to be entered is entered.
- 16What is a lookup list?If the data entered consists of a limited number of possible entries then the computer can compare the entry with a list of allowed answers.
- 17What is a report?A printed document that contains data from a database, organised and analysed in a certain way.
- 18What are form used for?Forms are used to make data entry more attractive and secure rather than entering data into raw tables.
- 19What are uses of databases?-Add, change, delete records.
-Search for a particular record.
-Sort the records into a given order.
-Print reports about some aspect of the database. - 20What do you use to search for information in a database?A query.
- 21What is a simple query search?A query that looks for data in one field.
- 22What is a complex query search?A query that looks at data with multiple criteria.
