Flashcards
Geometry rules/formulas & definitions
Cards in this deck (12)
- 1Rule for calculating Distance√(x2 - x1)² + (y2 - y1)2
- 2Rule for calculating Midpoint(x1 + x2). (y2 + y1)
———— ————
2 , 2 - 3Rule for calculating the Gradient (m)m =
y2 - y1
———
x2 - x1 - 4Equation of a line?y = mx + c
- 5Parallel lines (formula)m1 = m2
- 6Perpendicular lines (formula)m1 x m2 = -1
- If lines are perpendicular than the triangle is a right-angled triangle. - 7What is a scalene triangle?A scalene triangle consists of all 3 sides being different lengths.
- 8What is an isosceles triganle? An isosceles triangle has 2 equal sides.
- If the lengths of 2 sides are the same then it is an isosceles triangle. - 9What is a vertex? (Vertices)A point where 2 lines meet, the points of the triangle.
- 10What is a right-angled triangle?A right-angled triangle is a triangle that has a 90-degree angle where two sides have met.
- To prove a triangle id right-angled, the gradients have to be perpendicular.
(m1 x m2 = -1) - 11What is a bisector?bisection is the division of something into two equal or congruent parts, usually by a line, which is then called a bisector.
