Programming

Jordan Carey English 6 cards

Cards in this deck (6)

  1. 1Computing Programming - is a process that leads from an original formulation of a computing program to executable computer programs.Computer Programming - Often shortened to programming.
  2. 2What is the difference between high level language and machine code?Machine language uses binary/code but high level language(HLL) uses key words similar to English and are much easier to write.
Machine Language is a low level language and is machine dependent while HLL's are not.
  3. 3Converting high level language. A translator converts high level commands into a set of machine codes. One high level command can translate into many individual machine instructions. There are two different kinds of translator:
Complier: This takes the source code and converts it all at once into machine code. This machine code is then stored in an 'executable' file. These often have a .exe or .com extension.
Interpreter: This takes a single line of the high level source code at a time and converts into machine code. This machine code then immediately runs on the CPU. If there are any errors in the source code, it will be shown to the user or it may simply refuse to run without any explanation.
  4. 4What is an Assembler?Assembler is a computer program which is used to translate program written in Assembly Language in to machine language. The translated program is called as object program.
  5. 5What is a Complier?A compiler is a program that translates a programme written in HLL to executable machine language. The process of transferring HKK source program in to object code is a lengthy and complex process as compared to assembling. Compliers have diagnostic capabilities and prompt the programmer with appropriate error message while compiling a HLL program. The corrections are to be incorporated in the program, whenever needed, and the program has to be recompiled.
  6. 6What is a Interpreter? The basic purpose of interpreter is same as that of complier. In compiler, the program is translated completely and directly executable version is generated. Whereas interpreter translates each instruction, executes it and then the next instruction is translated and this goes on until end of the program. In this case, object code is not stored and reused. Every time the program is executed, the interpreter translates each instruction freshly.
