Flashcards
The System's Life Cycle
Cards in this deck (10)
- 1Problem IdentificationThe systems analyst and the client must establish the problem to be solved. This is important because if a problem is not defined precisely and accurately, then the system that is developed may not solve the problem, or the client may be charged for developing extra features they do not want or need.

Documentation - 4AnalysisThe analyst will use both data flow diagrams and system flow charts to try and understand the current system. This allows the analyst to produce a requirements specification, which is a list of tasks the solution should complete.
- 5DesignThe analyst draws up a design specification. Another data flow diagram and system flow chart will be drawn.
- 6ImplematationThis is the stage where the software is actually programmed
- 7EvaluationIt is evaluated by the analyst to decide whether or not it solves the initial problem, by testing it. The most important thing is to understand that the aim of the testing is so the analyst can prove to the client that the solution works
- 8InstallationThe analyst must create an installation strategy, explaining how to install the system into the business.
- 9DocumetationTechnical and user documentation is created
- 10MantinenceWhen the system is installed, it needs to be maintained. This might include updates to fix "bugs", add new features, or improve efficiency. Updates may also be made available to fix potential future bugs.
