Define Osmosis Osmosis is the movement of particles especially water across a semi-permeable membrane from a high concentration to a low e.g.
What are Specialised Cells ? Give 3 examples and say how this helps them carry out their job.
Define Tissue a tissue is a group of similar cells that work together to carry out a particular function.
Define Organ(s) An organ is a group of different tissues that work together to perform a particular function e.g. the stomach
Define Organ System(s) An organ system is a group of organs working together to perform a particular function e.g. the digestive system

How do plants use Glucose ? Remember C.RPSS (Corpse) Cell wall - Glucose is converted into cellulose to make strong cell walls Respiration Protein Synthesis -Glucose is combined with nitrate ions to make amino acids to be assembled into proteins. Stored in seeds - Glucose is turned into lipids (fats and oils) for storing in seeds. Stored as starch - Glucose is turned into starch and stored in leaves roots and stems.
Define Enzyme An enzyme is a biological catalyst that speeds up a reaction without being used up itself. They're made up of proteins.
What can affect an enzyme Temperature will affect how an enzyme works, if the temperature is too high the enzyme loses shape and stops working we call this denatured. pH also affects how an enzyme works, if it's too high or to low it interferes with the bonding of an enzyme therefore changing its shape and causing it to become denatured All enzymes have an optimum pH, which means this is the pH they work best at.
