How does the constitution guard against man's sinful nature? Why was the Bill of Rights added? By giving each house of the government a job to do, and each house is checked by another house to see if they're doing it right. The Bill of Rights was added to secure our rights as Americans. (Rights that were clearly not identified in the Constitution)
Discuss the 3 branches of government, and give the functions of each. Legislative, Executive and Judicial. Legislative makes the laws. Executive enforces the laws. Judicial branch interperates laws.
Discuss the differences in philosophy, between Federalists and Democrat Republicans. Federalists were headed up by Washington, Madison, Hamilton, Adam. Democrat Republicans were headed up largely by Jefferson. Which was based upon strict construction which was based upon loose construction?
Discuss the weaknesses of the Articles of Confederation. It took 9 states to get anything passed. They could not tax. You could suggest, but you could not raise money as federal government. There was only one branch, the Legislative branch. They could not control the economy. Trade. Between foreign trade or even within the states. They were creating money, but it was virtually worthless.
Discuss how the French and Indian War prepared the colonists for independence. It made us see how we were different from the English militarily, economically, and spiritually. It led to things like the Stamp Act, Quartering of soldiers, things we found particularly offensive.
