-Twisted Coaxial
-Fibre Optic - 2Routers and switches are both computer networking devices and both look similar. However, they perform differently and have different functions.-
- 3RouterA router is a device that forwards data packets along networks. They tend to be connected to at least two networks, and are located at 'gateways'.
- 4SwitchA switch is a central connection and handles frames. It keeps a record of the MAC addresses of all the devices connected to it, and can identify which system is sitting on which port, so it does not increase loading time.
- 5CoaxialA coaxial cable is a type of connection similar to fibre optic. It's cheap and easy to install, but it's prone to many issues such as emitting a lot of noise and consuming a lot of energy.
- 6Twisted CoaxialTwisted coaxial is similar to coaxial, but improved. It emits less noise, consumes less energy and isn't as prone to magnetic interference. Unfortunately it costs more and is harder to install.
- 7Fibre OpticFibre optic connection is much better than both coaxial connections. It's much faster and is economical, but it's very fragile and expensive to run.
