A nut with a nylon component that has a smaller inside diameter than the actual nut, which locks it firmly around the bolt when tightened. This prevents the nut from loosening under vibration.

Used to secure a bolt or any other rod-shaped fastener in place. They prevent the bolt from loosening.

They use friction to prevent bolted joints from loosening. Installed between the bolt head/nut and mating surface, when the nut is tightened, the washer flattens, pushing the sharp edges into the mating surface.

Used to prevent the unwanted escape of gases or liquids. They sit in the joint between these two parts, and become compressed in order to help form a tight seal.

They are plain bearings which don't need external lubrication and has low friction. They also are quiet in operation, and resist abrasion.

Used to ensure screws driven into masonry walls have a secure fixing. Without them, screws would not grip into the wall and wouldn't have an adequate compressive force to ensure a secure, permanent fixing.

A type of easily removed compression fitting or quick connect fitting that allows an air or water line to be attached. The pipe is just pushed into the fitting to be secured.

Used to secure the ends of round shafts such as axles and clevis pins. The straight leg is pushed into a hole near one end of the shaft until the semicircular part grips one side, resisting any force removing it.
