- 1Spell checkerA spellchecker automatically checks the spelling in a document. You should not rely totally on spellcheckers because there are some pitfalls to be wary of.
- 2Grammar checkerA grammar checker suggests problems with the way sentences are structured, or they can find repeated words or punctuation.
- 3ThesaurusA thesaurus can suggest alternatives for words. For example, for the word NICE, a thesaurus may suggest PLEASANT, KIND, LOVELY and other words with a similar meaning.
- 4Mail mergeIs a method of producing personalized letters by merging a standard letter with details of names and addresses and other information from a database.
- 5style sheetA style sheet is a description of the way a document is to be presented. It is used to make sure there is consistency in the appearance of the document.

- 13water marksA graphic or text can be placed on a master page where it becomes a watermark for the rest of the document. Everything else appearing on a document is written over the water which faintly shows through the background.
