- 4Steps for drawing an incenter1) measure the angle
2) create an angle w/ half of the measure. (this is your angle bisector).
3) create the point of intersection
- 5Circumcenterthe point where all of the perpendicular bisectors meet. Acute triangles have the circumcenter on the inside, right triangles ON the triangle, and obtuse triangles have it outside the triangle.
Steps for drawing:
1) find the midpoint of the side
2) draw the right angle at the midpoint
3) create a point of intersection
- 6Median (of a triangle)a segment whose endpoints are a vertex of the triangle and the midpoint of the opposite side..
Steps for drawing:
2) Go from the midpoint of one side and draw a line across to the opposite side and create a point
- 7Altitude (of a triangle)the perpendicular segment from a vertex in the triangle to the opposite side (or a line that contains the opposite side)
Steps for drawing:
2) draw a straight line from the endpoint.
the altitude IS NOT THE SAME AS AN ANGLE BISECTOR because the endpoint is not in the middle.
- 8Centroidthe point where all the medians meet. The centroid ALWAYS is on the inside of the triangle.
Steps for drawing:
1) find all medians (middle) of each segment,
2) connect them to the opposite side
3 ) put centroid where the lines intersect
- 9Orthocenterthe meeting of the 3 altitudes. In an acute triangle & a right triangle, the orthocenter is on the triangle while an obtuse triangle has the orthocenter on the outside.
